Friends and neighbors,
Four years ago, I came to you with a simple platform: economic development, public safety, and transparency. No fancy slogans. No empty promises. Just a commitment to work hard for the people of District 3.
Today, I’m announcing my campaign for re-election as your Magistrate—because we have unfinished business.
What We’ve Accomplished Together
The numbers speak for themselves. Over the last three years, Christian County has seen $2.8 billion in capital investment, more than $70 million in new state and local tax revenue, and 9,409 new jobs. That’s not an accident. That’s what happens when you have leadership focused on growth.
On public safety, roughly 74 cents of every tax dollar collected in Christian County goes directly to our Sheriff, jail, ambulance services, and dispatch. I fought for that because nothing matters more than keeping our families safe.
And on transparency? I promised you’d be able to see how your money is spent without jumping through hoops. Every year, I’ve posted our budget numbers on my Facebook page for anyone to see. Your government should work for you—not the other way around.
The Work Ahead
But I’m not done yet.
As chair of the Fiscal Court’s building committee, I’m proud to announce that before year’s end, we’ll be unveiling plans to revitalize the heart of downtown Hopkinsville. Our historic Courthouse will be restored—not remodeled—to its original 1800s glory. The Annex will be renovated to give the Commonwealth’s Attorney and PVA modern facilities. We’re adding a new parking structure and making Main Street more pedestrian-friendly.
This isn’t just about buildings. It’s about making Christian County a destination. A place our kids and grandkids are proud to call home.
Why I’m Running
I was born and raised in Christian County. Graduated from Christian County High School. My family has farmed the same 125 acres since 1931. After years in the corporate world—including eight years at Citibank in New York—my wife and I made the decision to come back home to raise our family.
This is my home. These are my people. And I’m not going anywhere.
I’m a conservative Republican and a devout Christian. I believe your hard-earned tax dollars deserve the same scrutiny I’d give my own money. I believe government should be accessible and accountable. And I believe Christian County’s best days are still ahead—if we have the right leadership.
I’m Asking for Your Vote
I’ve spent four years proving I’ll do what I say. Now I’m asking for four more to finish what we started.
I’ll be out knocking on doors, shaking hands, and listening to what matters to you. If you see me, stop me. If you have concerns, I want to hear them. That’s how this is supposed to work.
Thank you for the honor of serving District 3. I’d be proud to keep doing it.
God bless you, and God bless Christian County.
George Barnett
Candidate for Magistrate, District 3
