George Barnett is a Christian County native, conservative businessman, and your District 3 Magistrate on the Christian County Fiscal Court.
Christian County Roots
George was born and raised right here in Christian County, graduating from Christian County High School before earning his degree from Western Kentucky University. Today, he lives on the same 125-acre family farm that's been in the Barnett family since 1931.
After building a successful career that took him across the country, George and his wife made a deliberate choice to return home and raise their family in the community that shaped them. For George, Christian County isn't just where he works—it's home.
A Career in Business and Finance
George began his career at the former First City Bank before being recruited to Citibank's prestigious young executive program in New York City. As part of this program, George earned his MBA at the William Simon School Graduate of Business. He spent eight years at one of the world's largest financial institutions, developing the fiscal discipline and business acumen he brings to the Fiscal Court today.
George’s career has been primarily in banking and insurance with an emphasis on IT, with a stint as Technical Director of the Ft Campbell Military Installation (KY), Site Analyst at West Valley Nuclear Waste cleanup site (NY), and Western Representative at Niagara Mohawk Utility (NY). George also owned Holiday Burgers from 2008 until 2015.
After returning to Kentucky, George built a successful real estate development and property management business in Hopkinsville. Now retired from the corporate world, he applies that private-sector experience to his work as your Magistrate—treating every tax dollar with the same care he'd give his own.
Service and Values
George is a lifelong conservative Republican and devout Christian who believes faith, family, and community are the foundation of a good life. He has served as both Treasurer and Vice-Chair of the Christian County Republican Party and was honored to serve as a delegate to the Republican National Convention.
He is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and previously held a Top Secret security clearance during his work with DOW.
Your Magistrate
First elected in 2022, George ran on a platform of economic development, public safety, and transparency—and he's delivered. Under his watch, Christian County has attracted billions in new investment, maintained strong funding for law enforcement and emergency services, and opened the county's books to public view.
Now serving as chair of the Fiscal Court's building committee, George is leading the effort to restore the historic Christian County Courthouse and revitalize downtown Hopkinsville for future generations.
George believes government should be accessible, accountable, and run like a business. His door is always open to the residents of District 3.
